I bet you'd never guess who I saw tonight
Guess you didn't see me in those low, dim lights
I knew who she was
By the ring still on her hand
Sure looked like you still wanted to be her man

So, I guess that means that things are better
Must not be so bad at home
I thought it looked like you were leavin'
But it don't
And I heard you tell her you still love her
So, it doesn't matter what you say
I saw it all
From a table away

I thought she was pretty
She's nothing like the things you said
The woman you described
Couldn't even turn your head
The two of you look lost inside a world all your own
Like you couldn't wait to get her alone

So, I guess that means that things are better
Must not be so bad at home
I thought it looked like you were leavin'
But it don't
And I heard you tell her you still love her
So, it doesn't matter what you say
I saw it all
From a table away

And I heard you tell her you still love her
So it doesn't matter what you say
I saw it all
From a table away
Yes, you're gonna stay
A table away

I am perfectly aware that very few people on VR admittedly like country music, but whatever; this is my cover of Sunny Sweeney's From A Table Away.

Highlight the Words to Read

I can see your eyes staring into mine
But it's a battlefield and you're on the other side
You can throw your words, sharper than a knife
And leave me cold in another house on fire

I lay low, lay low and watch the bridges burn
I lay low, lay low. What more could I have done?

Now you only bring me black roses
And they crumble into dust when they're held
Now you only bring me black roses
Under your spell

She told me twice all her good advice
But I couldn't see I was clouded by your lies
Up in smoke, a vision she foretold
She said, "Stay away 'cause that boy's a warning sign."

I lay low, lay low and watch the bridges burn

Now you only bring me black roses
And they crumble into dust when they're held
Now you only bring me black roses
Under your spell

And I'm done trying to be the one picking up the broken pieces
And I'm done trying to be the one who says, "I love you, dear, but I'm leaving."

Now you only bring me black roses
And they crumble into dust when they're held
Now you only bring me black roses
But I'm not under your spell
I'm not under your spell

This is my cover of Sarah McLachlan's Building a Mystery. It has been over half a year since I last posted a recording of me covering a song, but here is a new one that I recently recorded. Yes, I know I have already posted this once, but there was a glitch when I tried to edit the original post; so I am re-posting it. Yes, it is me singing, and if it sounds like you hear my voice twice, that is because I also sang the backing vocals in the song as well.

You come out at night
That's when the energy comes
And the dark side's light
And the vampires roam
You strut your rasta wear
And your suicide poem
And a cross from a faith that died
Before Jesus came
You're building a mystery

You live in a church
Where you sleep with voodoo dolls
And you won't give up the search
For the ghosts in the halls
You wear sandals in the snow
And a smile that won't wash away
Can you look out the window
Without your shadow getting in the way?

You're so beautiful
With an edge and charm
But so careful
When I'm in your arms

'Cause you're working
Building a mystery
Holding on and holding it in
Yeah, you're working
Building a mystery
And choosing so carefully

You woke up screaming aloud
A prayer from your secret god
You feed off our fears
And hold back your tears, oh
Give us a tantrum
And a know-it-all grin
Just when we need one
When the evening's thin

You're a beautiful
A beautiful fucked up man
You're setting up your
Razor wire shrine

'Cause you're working
Building a mystery
Holding on and holding it in
Yeah, you're working
Building a mystery
And choosing so carefully

Oh, you're working
Building a mystery
Holding on and holding it in
Yeah, you're working
Building a mystery
And choosing so carefully
Yeah, you're working
Building a mystery
Holding on and holding it in
Oh yeah, you're working
Building a mystery
And choosing so carefully

You're building a mystery

********************
This song has always been meaningful to me; if you know anything about the song, you know it is about the facades people create to hide their insecurities. McLachlan has also mentioned that the sad part about this is that people are usually more beautiful when they are their true selves. Having closely known and been involved with people who are severely psychologically and emotionally impaired, this song hits home for me, especially as it accurately describes what it can be like to have a relationship with a sociopath and/or insecure people who have a carefully constructed and contrived image that they are so afraid of losing that they lose their true identity.

Where there is a will, there is a way.
If it is important, you will find a way.
If it is not important, you will find an excuse.

As a young child, doctors said I would never be able walk.
I have been walking for most of my life.
My parents told me I would never make it on my own.
I have been making it on my own for the past seven years.
Exes told me I would never graduate from college.
Not only did I graduate, I did it whilst making straight "A"s.

Why? Because I do not give up on what I deem important, and I know where there is a will, there is a way. Almost everything in life is possible; it just depends on how badly you want to move that mountain. ...But do not say that something cannot be done, unless you are prepared to eat crow. If you believe the simpler things in life cannot be done, you do not stand a chance of moving mountains.

Where there is a will, there is a way.
If it is important, you will find a way.
If it is not important, you will find an excuse.

I've been walking the streets at night
Just trying to get it right
It's hard to see with so many around
You know I don't like being stuck in the crowd
And the streets don't change but maybe the names
I ain't got time for the game, 'cause I need you
Yeah, I need you

…And I knew from the first time I saw his eyes
Paradise would become flame-colored skies
Casting Sun into the pit of dreams
Where for a moment, everything is what it seems

I want to crawl inside his soul
Break his skin and make him real
Standing bare-boned with no shadow play
To touch something I can feel

Anymore, I’m no longer keeping sore
For I long to knock at your door
How I'd wrap you up in me
And hang you from the heavens
